A standard session is 50 minutes long.

Sessions are usually weekly.
Regularity is critical to the success of the therapeutic process and sessions will be held at the same time and place each week.
When working with children, time must also be scheduled to have regular discussions with the family.
We will discuss ongoing frequency at the end of our first four sessions.

Psychotherapy is not a quick fix. Rather than focusing on changing surface behaviours or symptoms, we will delve deeper into unconscious causes of difficulties. This may take longer than other approaches such as CBT, however the impact is more profound and can effect lasting, lifelong change.
We will use the first four sessions to assess whether our therapeutic alliance is a good fit before committing to further work together. After this period, I will discuss with you the primary concerns to work on, and discuss whether we continue working on a long term basis.

Services with a counsellor or psychotherapist are currently not covered by the Medicare benefits scheme. However, you will not need to have a mental health diagnosis or care plan.
NB: My fees are lower than the price of a Medicare rebated session with a psychologist ($180-210 after rebate).

Yes, in some cases you will be able to use your NDIS funding, provided you are on a self-managed plan. We can discuss this in our initial consultation.
